Edinburgh Marathon - 22 May 2011
Five Fenland runners took part in the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday 22nd May on a course that is claimed to be the UK's fastest marathon course. However, on the day it was the strong winds that were the major challenge, with head winds hitting from 18 miles and the final 4 miles of the exposed home stretch of the course the winds were almost gale force. Despite the winds, four Fenland runners claimed PBs with Trudy Sayell taking 3 minutes off her best time to set a new Fenland Running Club Ladies Marathon Record in an amazing time of 3:27.35. Paul Arnold was the first Fenland man home in a time of 3:29.43 (PB by 23m) followed by Lisa Jermey in 3:35.58 (PB by 15m), David Hood in 3:54.30 and Lou Busby in 4:42.13 (PB by 17m).
