Grimsthorpe 10K - 30th August 2010

Fenland Running Club went out in force on the bank holiday and took prizes in the 10K race at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire.

Seventeen club members ran the 10km (6·2 mile) course round the hilly grounds of the stately home. Coach Robin Parker was first home and fifth overall in an excellent time of 37-20 which meant he won his category. Similarly, rising star Jack Trow won his class (Under—20 male) in 39-12 to finish in 39-12.

Strong support in the men’s team came from Justin Kinsey (39-40, 22nd) and Ady Martin (41-46, 40th) but the group just missed out on a team prize in which the first four counted. The women’s team was led home by Jane Holmes (48-37, 137th) and was followed in by Claudia Milburn (52-37, 213th).

Strong runs came from Paul Arnold with a personal best of 44-51 (71st) and newcomers Adam Oakes (52-44, 218th) and Adam Chown (57-56, 299th). This was impressive on a windy day and over a mixed terrain course. There were 441 finishers.
